Holden: Pontiac case not a big concern

It is very obvious that Holden of GM will be losing out on perhaps its most vital export model as the parent company of General Motors in the United States has taken a decision to call of the Pontiac brand. The company has also gone on record confirming that this decision will not have any sort of repercussion on the local jobs. It is known to the motor world that Holden is the firm that produces the Pontiac G8 in the American market, a car that is also known as the version of the Commodore. Many have bought this through car credit, car finance and car loans. General Motors made it clear that the Pontiac arm would be closed out by the time 2010 ends. The other four core brands that come out of General Motors are Cadillac, Buick, Chevrolet and GMC all of whom have loyalists who have been buying these cars through car credit, car finance and car loans. From a certain point of view, the move is considered to be good as people would buy the rest through the car loan thinking that the parent company would be focusing on the rest.
The company has assured that people would still be buying GM cars through the car loan. It has also assured that this move would neither affect any jobs in Australia. The spokesperson of Holden, Scott Whiffin has said that the production volumes are being modified at the plant that is located in Port Elizabeth, South Africa and that there will be no loss of jobs. This move is being implemented because of the current economic crisis and because there are flyers doing the rounds that GM may have to shut shop if it does not cut down on the losses despite the automaker getting a bailout stimulus. There have been a cut in sales and people have not been buying that many GM cars through car credit, car loans and car finance.
The company also showed concern and sadness over the end of the G8 program and said that it will shortly come out with something new and inventive to replace the G8. This will be done so that the interest that people have lost in GM cars can be revived and that they start buying again through the car loan. The car loan has been the one that has helped GM sell cars all over the world through the car loan. General Motors has also been a legendary seller in Australia. Australians have shown a lot of respect and love for the brand by purchasing its vehicles in large numbers.
